This W.L. Weller whiskey is made by the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort Kentucky who makes whiskey under different labels per whiskey style. The Weller brand is known for its “wheated” whiskeys, which means the usual rye and malted barley in bourbons, next to the minimum of 51% corn, is replaced by wheat, giving it its own distinct flavor while still being a 100% Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey. What’s extra special is that this bourbon whiskey has been aged for 12 years in newly charred American oak barrels, which is really unique in wheated bourbons.
