For the first time, Glenlivet brings out a whisky that has been finished on Cognac casks for 6 months. The new Captain's Reserve was initially matured on a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks. The name comes from Captain William Smith Grant, the great-grandson of George Smith who served in France in World War I in France; the origin of the finish casks.
