In 1670, Job Bearsley already did business in Portugal, where he traded mainly in wool. In 1692 he started trading in Portuguese wines. In 1744 his son Peter, as the first Englishman, bought a vineyard in the Douro Valley. This vineyard is still part of the Taylor property and the company is still in family hands. In all those years, it has never been sold or taken over. This Tawny is a blend of Port that aged for at least 20 years in barrels of 630 liters.
