Tamnavulin is one of those distilleries that doesn’t have a very big single malt presence. Founded in 1966, it is also a relatively new distillery. Most of its production ends up in blends – like Whyte & Mackay or Mackinlay – but a small portion is bottled exclusively as single malt whisky. Tamnavulin – Double Cask is the first official bottling the distillery has released in over two decades. Double Cask refers to the maturation in two different cask types. Predominantly in bourbon casks, but the whisky is finished in former sherry casks.
