Plantation Overproof is a blend over Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados rums, bottled at an impressive 69 percent alcohol. Overproof is a term that has its roots in the British Navy, where for many years British sailors were given rum. At some point the sailors started worrying that their rations were watered down. To check the quality of their rations, they mixed a small portion with gunpowder. If the mixture would ignite the sailors knew their rum wasn’t diluted.
