Lord Elcho was the eldest son of the 5th Earl of Wemyss, James Wemyss, which explains why he now has a whisky named after him. The Lord Elcho, 15 Y is a blended whisky from Wemyss Malts, the family that also owns Kingsbarns distillery. Lord Elcho was a staunch supporter of Bonnie Prince Charlie, but he was stripped of his title after the historic Battle of Culloden in the 18th century. He lives on through his whisky though, which is a composite of several malt and grain whiskies.
