The Founder’s Reserve is Glenlivet’s homage to George Smith, who founded the distillery and was the first farmer to take out a distilling license in 1823. This moment is generally seen as the starting point of the modern Scotch whisky industry. With George Smith’s original vision in mind, current Master Distiller Alan Winchester has chosen a series of American first-fill oak casks that make up the Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve. The Founder’s Reserve is not a stuffy single malt and can be enjoyed neat, with a splash of water, over ice or even in cocktails.
