The Bowmore Distillery was built in 1779 by David Simpson and is the oldest distillery on the island. During the Second World War the port of Bowmore was used by the British Army, which had to track down German submarines with a control post stationed there. Matured 18 years on Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks only, from the legendary No. 1 Vaults, this 'Deep & Complex' is the oldest in a series of 3 Bowmore bottlings, specially released for travel retail.
