Quarter casks aren’t used often in whisky maturation. You’ll encounter them every once in a while, but not many distilleries use these interesting casks. BenRiach is one such distillery that experiments with quarter casks, which are about half the size of regular casks. The BenRiach Peated Quarter Cask is a single malt made from peated barley and has been fully matured in quarter casks. Even after a relatively short maturation the result is an intensely flavorful whisky.
