Founded in 1790, Balblair is one of the prettiest distilleries in the whole of Scotland and certainly worth a visit if you’re ever in the Northern Highlands. In early 2019, Balblair’s entire core range was overhauled. The distillery used to release whiskies with vintages. Now they’re choosing a more conventional route, including age statements on the labels of all their whiskies. The Balblair 12 Y is the entry-level expression of the new range. It matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and double-fired American oak casks.
