Ailsa Bay is one of the biggest distilleries in Scotland, but it remains largely unknown to the public. Owned by the same family that also owns Glenfiddich, Ailsa Bay mainly produces blended whisky like Grant’s. It produces 12 million liters of single malt whisky each year, but only a fraction of it (less than 1 percent) is bottled as such. It’s also capable of producing many different styles of whisky, so it basically is several distilleries rolled into one. The Ailsa Bay Single Malt is a combination of several of these styles.
