Founded in 1879, Aberlour is the brainchild of James Fleming. It burnt down and had to be completely rebuilt in 1898, but currently, Aberlour is thriving and its Speyside single malt is known for its high-quality and noticeable sherry influence. The Aberlour Forest Reserve has spent most of its time in bourbon barrels and sherry casks from Spain, before spending a final aging period in French Limousin oak casks. The name is a nod to the commitment of the distillery to preserve the forests of Speyside.
